Art Inspired by FallOctober 28, 2009 on 1:28 pm | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | No CommentsAs I drive around these days, I can’t help but be in awe of the changes taking place all around me in Nature. The leaves are just beautiful: fiery reds, bright yellows, and bold oranges – they have turned the landscape into an amazing art show. And to think that we get to view this for free every fall! As I take all of this in, I being to think of how there is a nostalgia that comes with the cooler weather and changing leaves as the days grow shorter and the nights take the lead. We tend to draw inward, to focus more on ourselves and our families. This is the time of holidays and memories, of family and friends. With the fall comes our getting back to the basics…trying to keep warm… coming up with creative indoor family activities…balancing daily life with the upcoming holiday travels and visitors. Yes, there is a distinct dynamic in the fall, and though it is very different than the dynamic and emotion we feel in the Spring, it is just as powerful and wonderful. What better way to ride out these amazing emotions than to focus on some beautiful fall-inspired art. Now I don’t know if these artists actually created these pieces after a long fall drive, but for me, they reflect the changes and emotion that come with this time of year. Much like nature, art has the ability to immediately inspire, change, and alter our moods in a matter of moments, and that is why art so often imitates and reflects nature. Here are a few pieces of kid’s art that are wonderful visual reminders of how cleansing and calming this time of year can be. Forest Fun Canvas – The colors and overall feel of this canvas definitely remind me of Fall. The trees are almost completely bare and all the colors are reflective of the ones that we see around us during these next months. October Memories Wall Mural – You may not be the “cabin type” but even so, you have to appreciate this amazing image. You can almost feel the crisp air and the sound of crunching leaves in the forest. The Path Canvas – Many may see this canvas as more fitting for Spring, however for me, the cool colors and scarce leaves on the branches speak of Fall and the beginning of wintertime. Fall Tree Canvas – This is the most obvious Fall canvas, as is obvious by its name. I especially love the overall simplicity that is blended with great detailing throughout the image. Happy Decorating! Adriana M Dehring A Black and White RoomSeptember 17, 2009 on 10:21 am | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | No CommentsSometimes keeping it simple and I mean really simple has the most dramatic effect. A great example of this would be in a black and white themed nursery. The combination of black and white makes us think of formal things – weddings, cocktail parties, the opera – any event that would make your husband shine his shoes before going! Some may think this is too heavy looking, or stuffy for a nursery, but I beg to differ. It is elegant, charming, and sophisticated, making it the perfect combination for your baby’s first room. Lizzie Crib Linens by Little Bunny Blue – I just love this set because it is so crisp and has such great details, like the pleating on the crib skirt and the black buttons and trim. This is sophisticated but still youthful with the choice of tiny white and black dot fabric throughout. Notice also how they have a pale pink on the walls…it does not take away from the bedding and furniture at all.
Aladin Lamp by Maura Daniel – This lamp is a great modern piece that really catches your eye. Their use of different shapes and patterns throughout, really come together in an energizing way. Central Park Wall Letters – Toile can mix and match with so many other styles of décor and looks especially wonderful in a nursery. These wall letters can also make the transition from nursery to the big kid room even if you change from a black and white theme, making them a great choice for personalized wall décor. Classic Rock Adult Glider by Jennifer DeLonge – Every parent should have a comfy glider in the nursery for the many hours of holding, feeding, soothing, and reading to baby. For the modern parent, this Classic Rock Glider is perfect. The two-tone look makes it interesting and the black and white combination it is so hip. This is another piece that can move out of the nursery when you transition to the big kid room, except it can actually go to any other room in your house! Choosing to decorate in a black and white theme for the nursery will result in a sophisticated and stunning place to welcome baby home. Be sure to check out the other black and white pieces Rosenberry Rooms has so that you can get inspired to create a dream nursery for your little one! Happy Decorating! Adriana M Dehring Wall Art for Any StyleSeptember 9, 2009 on 9:14 am | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | No CommentsWhen you decide to fill your child’s room with art to personalize and liven up their space, most of the pieces you choose will be reflective of their personality. However, there are some pieces of artwork out there that are able to blend nicely with any color scheme, theme or personality type. The reason they have this universal appeal, if you will, is because of the colors and message being used in the artwork. These pieces are great options when you just need a little something extra but aren’t quite sure which way to go, or if you are just starting out and not completely sure what color or theme the room will become. For both boys and girls, it is important to have some of these universal pieces of art in their rooms to balance out the rest of the décor, keeping it from becoming overly thematic. One example would be an ABC piece of artwork, which is great for the nursery or your grade school aged child. This type of artwork can serve as a learning tool, especially when interesting objects and illustrations are shown for each letter. I personally love the Classic Alphabet Girl Canvas by Oopsy Daisy, which features popular pastel colors that are muted enough to blend well with other pieces of décor and perfect for any girl’s room.
Another example of a universal type of artwork for boys would be a simple sports themed piece. Almost every boy loves sports at one time or another, but even if he prefers reading or building things, a simple piece of sports wall art will still fit in his room. There is a series of pieces by Green Frog Art including the Baseball one pictured below that are just great. Simple, neutral in color, and incredibly stylish, this framed art would blend well in any boy’s room.
I am a big fan of wooden wall plaques and think every child’s room should showcase one. They offer such a wonderful vintage feel and are able to blend in with any décor. There are so many different signs to choose from, but one that stands out to me as perfect for a boy’s room is the Three Old Goats Wood Sign, which you can personalize to say whatever you like. I also like how it is really theme neutral, but interesting and a great conversation piece.
Lastly, I would say that an abstract piece of art would work well with multiple themes and color schemes. Not every piece of art in your child’s room has to be theme-specific, and it is often a good idea to use at least one eye-catching piece for the sake of visual appeal. This Blue Flames Canvas is a great piece for a boy’s room – it is very masculine but also a fun piece to offset the rest of his décor.
Keep your eye out for these types of wall art to start or complete your child’s room. Happy Decorating! Adriana M Dehring Hanging Wooden Letters for KidsSeptember 8, 2009 on 10:04 am | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | No CommentsWhen it comes to naming our baby, it is not a simple process or one that parents take lightly. Typically it is the subject of the moment for almost the entire 9 months. Mom and dad are constantly harassed to reveal the name or at least to give some insight into what direction they are leaning – is it trendy? how about a family name? you know…great, uncle Rufus would be so honored… All the while mom and dad make and re-make and arrange and rearrange their list over and over trying to decide from their ultrasound photos which name suits their baby. They may not be sure if that is the nose or a thumb, but they definitely know that name is NOT the right one. My point is that naming your child is something that we, as parents, have invested plenty of time, energy, thought and emotion into. What better way to celebrate their wonderful name than by proudly displaying it in the form of wooden hanging letters? There are many different options when you decide to purchase hanging wall letters – you can just have your child’s initials done, the full name, just the first name, all caps, all lowercase, whatever font you like… Some of the most popular letters that are sold on Rosenberry Rooms are from one designer that has adorable patterns, amazing quality and a great custom option where you get to choose all the details of color and pattern. Here are some of the top sellers for boys and girls from this designer. The Kayla’s Butterfly Garden Letters are just so sweet and feminine, making them perfect for a nursery or little girl’s bedroom. I would choose for these to be made with the coordinating ribbon and also order the matching nail covers – that will really complete the look.
The Blues and Greens Letters are fresh and fun and will match a variety of boy’s room themes. The combination of colors and classic patterns make these letters perfect for a little boy’s nursery or a big kid’s bedroom.
The Green Paisley Splash are bright and energetic and perfect for the girl who likes things other than hearts and flowers. The colors are modern and the patterns are classic, making these wall letters stand out in any décor.
The Red and Chocolate Wall Letters are just superb. I love how the colors are strong and refined but still youthful. These letters are a great addition to your little boy’s decor and will add to the overall feel of the room.
Celebrate your child’s name with these great hanging letters offered on Rosenberry Rooms and remember, they make wonderful Christmas presents! Happy Decorating! Timeless Themes for Your Boy’s RoomJuly 22, 2009 on 12:29 pm | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | 1 CommentSince my last entry was about timeless themes for girl’s rooms, I thought it would be appropriate to highlight some themes and patterns for boy’s rooms as well. Although boys are generally simpler than girls, decorating their room in a great theme can be just as difficult. The struggle with boy’s rooms is keeping it age appropriate (fun and youthful) but also strong and masculine. If you are a parent that has absolutely no idea where to begin with your boy’s room, don’t worry! I have highlighted some classic themes for boy’s rooms that will not grow old or outdated. These are a great foundation for his nursery or bedroom and you can add fun accent pieces which will truly personalize the space for him. Plaid – This is one of the simplest themes to use for a boy’s room, whether for his nursery or big boy bedroom. Plaid is a classic pattern, a little preppy and a very good base for any additional décor that you may want to add. Keeping larger pieces of décor with this pattern (such as bedding, rug, and lighting) will give you a strong and coherent look throughout his room. Feel free to add other design elements like what you see in this Windowpane Plaid Twin Duvet by Whistle and Wink to add interest and really personalize just for your little guy. I love the pattern and color combination that they use…it gives you a vintage feel but remains modern and fresh at the same time. Nautical – At first this may seem a little too specific of a theme, but to achieve a nautical look, you really are just keeping the tones in the room a little more monochromatic with blues and white / beige. A nautical room is very masculine and allows you to really have fun in the details. For a nursery, you can expand your décor to include sailboats and lighthouses, and for an older child, focus on oars, ropes, and compasses. I chose to highlight the Sailboat Iron Bed by Corsican which I love because it makes such a statement, and is a piece of furniture that you can build the entire room around. Stripes – Stripes are incredibly versatile and can be used for either girl or boy, but I prefer them in a boy’s room, where you can use larger, bolder stripes and colors, creating a great focal point of the room. Much like plaid, you can use other design elements and patterns, giving you endless possibilities to personalize his room. Looking at the Asher Bedding by Serena & Lily, the strong color choice makes a great starting point for the room. They pair this with a diamond pattern sheet set and also offer a star sheet set as an option – both complement the stripe well and make for a very masculine room. There are obviously many other options when decorating for a boy’s room; however these are great basic themes that give you versatility and will not get old anytime soon. Check out these other themed room options on Rosenberry Rooms and let your creativity and inner designer take over…happy decorating! Adriana Dehring Special Feature of the Week – Music Graphic Banners for a Musical Theme BedroomJuly 18, 2009 on 10:00 am | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Special Feature of the Week | No CommentsSpecial Feature of the Week – Music Graphic Banners for Your Child’s Muscial Theme Bedroom Most kids grow up loving music. When they are babies, they adore their mothers lullabies and nursery rhyme music boxes and the merry-go-round tunes of their crib mobiles. As toddlers, they happily pound on toy drum sets, strum plastic guitars and dance around the living room to Sesame Street. As children grow, their music tastes change and refine, but most kids will always love music in one form or another. Whether they grow towards classical and take up the violin or take guitar lessons to form their own rock band, music is a part of our childrens’ lives from the very beginning. So, as far as childrens’ bedroom décor, you can’t go wrong with a music themed bedroom or some carefully selected beautiful music artwork to personalize your child’s bedroom. This week the special feature is a gorgeous, yet bold and fun, music graph banner. I love this music art piece for its fun appeal, giving the impression of New Orleans Jazz. I also love that these wall sized pieces hang from the ceiling without damage to the walls. The pieces can span a 10 foot wall space.
If your child loves music, dancing or just deserves a vibrant and colorful bedroom, this Music Graph Banner is the perfect childrens’ bedroom music décor. And parents, take advantage of the FREE SHIPPING for this item.

Timeless Themes for Girl’s RoomsJuly 15, 2009 on 7:29 am | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | No CommentsMaybe you are getting ready to start redecorating your little girl’s bedroom, or perhaps you are starting for the first time with her nursery, but you have no idea what style you want to go with. Not every parent wants to have a themed room that will need to be changed or updated every so often (such as Barbie, princesses, fairies, etc…) and so, for those parents I want to highlight some great themes that are classic and perfect for girls of all ages. Toile – This is a great design to use for a nursery, especially if you are not the most gifted when it comes to decorating. When you choose to go with toile as your main nursery theme, you will immediately have a space that looks like it was done by a professional. Toile is timeless and elegant with just enough sass, plus you can add in some other design styles such as floral, polka dots or stripes which will blend well and look fantastic. This is one theme for your little girl’s nursery that you will not get tired of, so it is a great choice. The added bonus is that if you stay with a gender neutral color, a toile nursery can also work for a boy, giving you versatility and a nursery set that can last for many years. I love the details of this Angelique Toile D’or Crib Linen Set by Little Bunny Blue…it is so elegant and sophisticated without being too “frilly” This is truly the perfect beginning to a great nursery design for your little girl. Damask – Typically damask is thought of as only appealing to those who have more of an alternative or eccentric style, but there are many current options which have made this pattern more universally appealing. Take, for instance, the Tess Bedding Set from Serena & Lily…they use softer, more neutral colors so that the bold pattern is not overbearing. When you choose a bedding set such as this one, you have so much versatility in adding the décor – keeping it simple or adding more ornate and eye-popping details in the lighting, and artwork. In all, I think there are many different options today which make damask a beautiful choice for a girl’s room. Paisley – Paisley is a pattern that has been around for a long time, and made its way through fashion, some classy pieces and others just too awful to remember (men’s paisley suit, for example). Even with all its ups and downs, paisley definitely has a special place in design, and when decorating for your little girl, should not be discounted. Perhaps the best part of this design pattern is how easily it melds with any other pattern, resulting in some interesting combinations: stripes, butterflies, polka dots, floral, and abstract. In the Carli Crib Bedding Set by Maddie Boo, the main fabric used is a simple paisley pattern without anything else going on, making this more modern. Also, the use of solid color blocks and stripes make this a fun and girly set that will look great in any nursery.

Different Kinds of Kids ArtJune 23, 2009 on 3:48 pm | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | 1 Comment
Canvas Reproductions – these are original works of art that are printed on a canvas which is then stretched around a wooden frame and ready to hang. Since these don’t need to be framed, there is no need to use a glass covering and they can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, making them a great choice for kid’s rooms and playrooms.
Now that you have an idea of the different styles and types of kid’s art available to you, it should be much easier to know how you want to fill their space. Don’t feel like you have to stay within just one style…on the contrary, by mixing and bringing these different types of wall art together, you will be able to create an inspiring and fun room for your child.
