Kids Luxury Linens

Just because they are pint-sized (for now, anyway!) doesn’t mean that your little boy or girl will not appreciate fine linens on their bed. They may not know what thread count is, or how there are different types of cotton, but when their head hits the pillow and they pull their sheets high up to their chin, they will feel as if they are falling asleep on a cloud. Luxury bedding sets are a step above, and they come with definite benefits for young and old alike. The fabrics are breathable, so they won’t be too hot or too cold, the sheets will be soft on their skin, almost soothing, the quality is superior, with amazing details and durability that guarantees many years without edges fraying, stitches ripping or seams pulling apart.

Typically, we don’t think of purchasing expensive bedding for our children, because they will probably ruin it. Right? Well, that just depends…if you allow your child to eat in their room, play with markers in their room, etc, then maybe you don’t want to invest in fine linens for them. However, if your child’s bedroom is just for non-messy activities, then a gorgeous bedding set will fit right in. Luxurious linens look amazing and have the ability to completely transform the bedroom into a magical place.

Most bedding sets that fall into the “luxury” category will not be overly themed, which will allow you to keep them in your child’s room for many years. You can always add their favorite passion of the moment into the room through art and other décor, so there is no need to worry that their space will not be personal enough.

Some luxury bedding sets that you can find on Rosenberry Rooms include designers like Doodlefish, Gordonsbury, and Little Bunny Blue. All of these designers are known for using superior fabrics and incorporating amazing details into their bedding sets. Here are three luxury linen sets that I think are fabulous…

Doodlefish: Princess Bedding – Everything about this set is fantastic, from the embroidery on the fabrics, to the soft hues, to the amazingly feminine and youthful feel. This is the type of bedding that transforms a little girl’s room into a wonderful haven for her to relax and sleep.

Little Bunny Blue: Stephanie Ann Bed Linens – the combinations of fabrics and the detailing throughout this set are just amazing. This is a wonderful shabby chic set that makes for a very feminine bedroom.

Gordonsbury: Sailing Away – This is a wonderful set for a little boy. It is so fresh and clean, with all of the appeal in the embroidery detailing throughout this set. The overall simplicity also allows you to personalize his room with plenty of color and exciting décor.

A Black and White Room

Sometimes keeping it simple and I mean really simple has the most dramatic effect. A great example of this would be in a black and white themed nursery. The combination of black and white makes us think of formal things – weddings, cocktail parties, the opera – any event that would make your husband shine his shoes before going! Some may think this is too heavy looking, or stuffy for a nursery, but I beg to differ. It is elegant, charming, and sophisticated, making it the perfect combination for your baby’s first room.
The details of how you pull it all together are completely up to you. You may prefer a black area rug instead of white because you have older children and just know there will be spills and stains. But if this is your first baby, you probably are not as worried about that, and a white shag rug will do just fine. I have seen the furniture and bedding both ways: white furniture with mostly black bedding and black furniture with mostly white bedding and either way, it looks great. I think any way you plan it out, the nursery will look excellent, just be sure to keep everything black and white. Don’t fall into the common trap of thinking it needs just a little splash of color – it doesn’t! Also, don’t go with black and cream or black and linen – it really will not look the same. Now, for the wall colors, I think it is okay to have a slight hue in there for a girl – maybe the palest pink or lavender if you really want to, but even a pale shade of grey for both a boy and girl will look stunning. Now on to some great black and white products that you can find on Rosenberry Rooms…

Lizzie Crib Linens by Little Bunny Blue – I just love this set because it is so crisp and has such great details, like the pleating on the crib skirt and the black buttons and trim. This is sophisticated but still youthful with the choice of tiny white and black dot fabric throughout. Notice also how they have a pale pink on the walls…it does not take away from the bedding and furniture at all.

Aladin Lamp by Maura Daniel – This lamp is a great modern piece that really catches your eye. Their use of different shapes and patterns throughout, really come together in an energizing way.

Central Park Wall Letters – Toile can mix and match with so many other styles of décor and looks especially wonderful in a nursery. These wall letters can also make the transition from nursery to the big kid room even if you change from a black and white theme, making them a great choice for personalized wall décor.

Classic Rock Adult Glider by Jennifer DeLonge – Every parent should have a comfy glider in the nursery for the many hours of holding, feeding, soothing, and reading to baby. For the modern parent, this Classic Rock Glider is perfect. The two-tone look makes it interesting and the black and white combination it is so hip. This is another piece that can move out of the nursery when you transition to the big kid room, except it can actually go to any other room in your house!

Choosing to decorate in a black and white theme for the nursery will result in a sophisticated and stunning place to welcome baby home. Wall Art for Any Style

When you decide to fill your child’s room with art to personalize and liven up their space, most of the pieces you choose will be reflective of their personality. However, there are some pieces of artwork out there that are able to blend nicely with any color scheme, theme or personality type. The reason they have this universal appeal, if you will, is because of the colors and message being used in the artwork. These pieces are great options when you just need a little something extra but aren’t quite sure which way to go, or if you are just starting out and not completely sure what color or theme the room will become. For both boys and girls, it is important to have some of these universal pieces of art in their rooms to balance out the rest of the décor, keeping it from becoming overly thematic.

One example would be an ABC piece of artwork, which is great for the nursery or your grade school aged child. This type of artwork can serve as a learning tool, especially when interesting objects and illustrations are shown for each letter. I personally love the Classic Alphabet Girl Canvas by Oopsy Daisy, which features popular pastel colors that are muted enough to blend well with other pieces of décor and perfect for any girl’s room.

Another example of a universal type of artwork for boys would be a simple sports themed piece. Almost every boy loves sports at one time or another, but even if he prefers reading or building things, a simple piece of sports wall art will still fit in his room. There is a series of pieces by Green Frog Art including the Baseball one pictured below that are just great. Simple, neutral in color, and incredibly stylish, this framed art would blend well in any boy’s room.

I am a big fan of wooden wall plaques and think every child’s room should showcase one. They offer such a wonderful vintage feel and are able to blend in with any décor. There are so many different signs to choose from, but one that stands out to me as perfect for a boy’s room is the Three Old Goats Wood Sign, which you can personalize to say whatever you like. I also like how it is really theme neutral, but interesting and a great conversation piece.

Lastly, I would say that an abstract piece of art would work well with multiple themes and color schemes. Not every piece of art in your child’s room has to be theme-specific, and it is often a good idea to use at least one eye-catching piece for the sake of visual appeal.  This Blue Flames Canvas is a great piece for a boy’s room – it is very masculine but also a fun piece to offset the rest of his décor.

Hanging Wooden Letters for Kids

When it comes to naming our baby, it is not a simple process or one that parents take lightly. Typically it is the subject of the moment for almost the entire 9 months. Mom and dad are constantly harassed to reveal the name or at least to give some insight into what direction they are leaning – is it trendy? how about a family name? you know…great, uncle Rufus would be so honored… All the while mom and dad make and re-make and arrange and rearrange their list over and over trying to decide from their ultrasound photos which name suits their baby. They may not be sure if that is the nose or a thumb, but they definitely know that name is NOT the right one.

My point is that naming your child is something that we, as parents, have invested plenty of time, energy, thought and emotion into. What better way to celebrate their wonderful name than by proudly displaying it in the form of wooden hanging letters? There are many different options when you decide to purchase hanging wall letters – you can just have your child’s initials done, the full name, just the first name, all caps, all lowercase, whatever font you like… Some of the most popular letters that are sold on Rosenberry Rooms are from one designer that has adorable patterns, amazing quality and a great custom option where you get to choose all the details of color and pattern. Here are some of the top sellers for boys and girls from this designer.

The Kayla’s Butterfly Garden Letters are just so sweet and feminine, making them perfect for a nursery or little girl’s bedroom. I would choose for these to be made with the coordinating ribbon and also order the matching nail covers – that will really complete the look.

The Blues and Greens Letters are fresh and fun and will match a variety of boy’s room themes. The combination of colors and classic patterns make these letters perfect for a little boy’s nursery or a big kid’s bedroom.

The Green Paisley Splash are bright and energetic and perfect for the girl who likes things other than hearts and flowers. The colors are modern and the patterns are classic, making these wall letters stand out in any décor.

The Red and Chocolate Wall Letters are just superb. I love how the colors are strong and refined but still youthful. These letters are a great addition to your little boy’s decor and will add to the overall feel of the room.

Meet Basia Duenckel of NollieCovers

Every parent who has paid a visit to the store to purchase a car seat for their new baby on the way or for their growing toddler, has experienced the disappointment that comes along with, not only the lack of selection available overall, but the sheer void of any high end or stylish fabrics used.  This is where Nollie Covers replacement car seat covers come to the rescue!  NollieCovers, owned and operated by designer Basia Duenckel, creates beautiful, high quality, and nothing short of luxurious 461-infant-car-seat-cover-in-baby-molly2replacement covers for all of the main car seat brands, including Britax, Peg Perego and Graco.  What sets Nollie Covers apart from other designers is that unlike the typical thin “slip cover style” covers, these are custom made replacement covers that are designed to fit each car seat size and shape perfectly, include all of the appropriate padding and fully replace the old cover.  Using only the finest hand selected fabrics, including chenille, velvet, minky and sweet cotton prints, the final product is a cozy, highly cushioned car seat cover with fully lined canopy and double-stitched seams for durability.  Of course, Basia creates each Nollie Cover with a child’s safety, and comfort in mind, and each replacement car seat cover is machine washable and dryer safe, to make cleaning a cinch.   In addition, Nollie Covers are all hand crafted in the USA, using the highest quality workmanship and attention to detail … you can’t beat that!

Nollie Covers has an enormous fan base including celebrities, sports figures and royalty, but the most meaningful and impressive accolades come from moms and dads around the country (and world) who can’t help but gush over Basia’s incredible designs.  Parents just don’t like Nollie Covers, they adore them, so much so that Basia regularly receives emails of thanks from happy parents who are more than eager to express their awe and appreciation for her amazing product.  When a new mom or dad first glances at their Nollie Cover replacement car seat cover, the typical response (after they lift their jaw up from the floor) goes something like this – it’s perfect, gorgeous, amazing, beautiful, ultra soft and padded, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!461-infant-car-seat-cover-in-baby-perry10

So, give your car seat a makeover today!  Remove the factory issued blue or black fabric car seat cover and replace it with a chic NollieCover!   Choose from a dizzying variety of colors and designs, including new organic cotton fabrics, and you can even monogram it for a personal touch.    I am so thrilled to be offering the amazing Nollie Covers designer line on RosenberryRooms.com and I hope you enjoy learning more about Basia by reading her personal interview.

How would you define the NollieCovers style philosophy?
I try to design things that don’t just make one person happy, but that will appeal to a wide variety of customers.  From very girly, to extreme.  I don’t have a particular style…they always change…I love lots of different looks and colors, and am very spontaneous at putting combos of them together.  Baby’s comfort, and Mother’s pleasure to look at – that’s my core philosophy.  It’s all about the baby.

What inspired you to become a designer and start a business?
No planning went into it.  Out of six children, my last was a daughter.  All of the car seats at that time were navy blue, black, and gray – nothing I wanted my first daughter sitting in.  Plus, they were very stiff and uncomfortable.  I started NollieCovers to change this…and as you can see, the whole market has changed because of it.  Five years461-infant-car-seat-cover-in-baby-patti-cake ago, two-tone girly covers did not exist!

What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?
When I receive letters and phone calls from parents raving about how happy they are with the quality of our product, and how relaxed and comfy their babies are in their NollieCovers.

Do you have any advice for other working moms?
Don’t be afraid to follow the passion you have in doing something you love…focus on what you love…not the money.  Do something you’re passionate about, and the money will follow.  Also, don’t overplan or overspend when setting up a small business!  Start out small…make the highest quality product you can…and word of mouth will go a long way.

If you had to pick a favorite design from your collection, what would it be?
That’s like asking a Mom which of her children is her favorite…I love them all!  If I had to pick, though, it would be our Paris cover/line.  That was the cover that really launched us into the industry.

What sets NollieCovers apart from other designers?
Our unique fabrics for one thing.  Our covers were the very first two-toned covers on the market…using unique high-end cottons and furs.  NollieCovers are replacement covers – not thin fabric slipcovers.  Plus, every NollieCover is custom hand-made to order for each client in the USA.
We also make replacement covers for the widest range of car seats on the market (and Bugaboo and Orbit Stroller Covers, too) – including the whole Britax line, Orbit Infant, Maxi-Cosi, Chicco, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30, etc. etc. – and each and every one of them is made to the exact original manufacturer’s specifications.  No 461-toddler-car-seat-cover-in-nolan2one else does that.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line?
NollieCovers will be introducing a fully Organic line of replacement car seat covers, blankets, stroller covers, and accessories.  This line is scheduled to launch in Fall/Winter 2009/2010.   We’re also introducing a line of heirloom-quality handmade quilts.
