Rosenberry Rooms has an entire section dedicated to Earth-friendly designers who offer great options if you want to do a little something for the Earth while decorating for your little one. You will find quite a few designers and products from bedding to diaper bags, strollers, and even art. I am going to list a few of my favorites below for you to see how easy it is to shop for your child and remain Earth-friendly at the same time. Amenity – They offer great nature-themed artwork in various sizes, already stretched or as a flat canvas. I love their group of organic wall art like the Woodlands Squirrel Stretched Organic Cotton Wall Print. The materials are all-natural: 300 thread count certified organic cotton, printed with non-toxic, water-based and eco-friendly dyes. Even beyond how natural this artwork is, the images themselves are a bit nostalgic in style, like something from your grandmother’s house. Amenity also offers crib sets, blankets, and floor pillows, so be sure to look at their complete line – you will love it! Argington – This company provides environmentally friendly children’s products with sustainable design and manufacturing. They have children’s furniture that is sleek and modern with their highest priority being longevity and reusability – adjustable, convertible, and multifunctional pieces that can grow with your child and be passed on to the next child. Their Babylon Highchair is so fun and versatile – it supports up to 200 lbs in weight and can adjust from coffee table to bistro height. They have fantastic colors to choose from and great add-ons like cushions and trays, allowing you to purchase exactly what you need. This is just the beginning of Arginton’s amazing children’s furniture line which includes cribs, beds, bunk beds, nightstands, bookcases, and toy boxes. Oh, and don’t forget their organic bedding options as well! Baby Planet – They have a few ways in which they promote conservation, including their stroller recycling program that allows you to send your used strollers and other baby gear to either be donated or recycled. Now that is green thinking! Their Endangered species line of strollers is not only great-looking, but helps bring attention and financial help to these endangered species and their habitats through the Wildlife Conservation Society. My personal favorite is the Snow Leopard Stroller because of the tasteful animal print…so fun! Timeless Themes for Your Boy’s RoomJuly 22, 2009 on 12:29 pm | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | 1 CommentSince my last entry was about timeless themes for girl’s rooms, I thought it would be appropriate to highlight some themes and patterns for boy’s rooms as well. Although boys are generally simpler than girls, decorating their room in a great theme can be just as difficult. The struggle with boy’s rooms is keeping it age appropriate (fun and youthful) but also strong and masculine. If you are a parent that has absolutely no idea where to begin with your boy’s room, don’t worry! I have highlighted some classic themes for boy’s rooms that will not grow old or outdated. These are a great foundation for his nursery or bedroom and you can add fun accent pieces which will truly personalize the space for him. Plaid – This is one of the simplest themes to use for a boy’s room, whether for his nursery or big boy bedroom. Plaid is a classic pattern, a little preppy and a very good base for any additional décor that you may want to add. Keeping larger pieces of décor with this pattern (such as bedding, rug, and lighting) will give you a strong and coherent look throughout his room. Feel free to add other design elements like what you see in this Windowpane Plaid Twin Duvet by Whistle and Wink to add interest and really personalize just for your little guy. I love the pattern and color combination that they use…it gives you a vintage feel but remains modern and fresh at the same time. Nautical – At first this may seem a little too specific of a theme, but to achieve a nautical look, you really are just keeping the tones in the room a little more monochromatic with blues and white / beige. A nautical room is very masculine and allows you to really have fun in the details. For a nursery, you can expand your décor to include sailboats and lighthouses, and for an older child, focus on oars, ropes, and compasses. I chose to highlight the Sailboat Iron Bed by Corsican which I love because it makes such a statement, and is a piece of furniture that you can build the entire room around. Stripes – Stripes are incredibly versatile and can be used for either girl or boy, but I prefer them in a boy’s room, where you can use larger, bolder stripes and colors, creating a great focal point of the room. Much like plaid, you can use other design elements and patterns, giving you endless possibilities to personalize his room. Looking at the Asher Bedding by Serena & Lily, the strong color choice makes a great starting point for the room. They pair this with a diamond pattern sheet set and also offer a star sheet set as an option – both complement the stripe well and make for a very masculine room. There are obviously many other options when decorating for a boy’s room; however these are great basic themes that give you versatility and will not get old anytime soon. Check out these other themed room options on Rosenberry Rooms and let your creativity and inner designer take over…happy decorating! Adriana Dehring Special Feature of the Week – Music Graphic Banners for a Musical Theme BedroomJuly 18, 2009 on 10:00 am | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Special Feature of the Week | No CommentsSpecial Feature of the Week – Music Graphic Banners for Your Child’s Muscial Theme Bedroom Most kids grow up loving music. When they are babies, they adore their mothers lullabies and nursery rhyme music boxes and the merry-go-round tunes of their crib mobiles. As toddlers, they happily pound on toy drum sets, strum plastic guitars and dance around the living room to Sesame Street. As children grow, their music tastes change and refine, but most kids will always love music in one form or another. Whether they grow towards classical and take up the violin or take guitar lessons to form their own rock band, music is a part of our childrens’ lives from the very beginning. So, as far as childrens’ bedroom décor, you can’t go wrong with a music themed bedroom or some carefully selected beautiful music artwork to personalize your child’s bedroom. This week the special feature is a gorgeous, yet bold and fun, music graph banner. I love this music art piece for its fun appeal, giving the impression of New Orleans Jazz. I also love that these wall sized pieces hang from the ceiling without damage to the walls. The pieces can span a 10 foot wall space.
If your child loves music, dancing or just deserves a vibrant and colorful bedroom, this Music Graph Banner is the perfect childrens’ bedroom music décor. And parents, take advantage of the FREE SHIPPING for this item.

Timeless Themes for Girl’s RoomsJuly 15, 2009 on 7:29 am | In Decorating Themes for Kids, Decorating Tips | No CommentsMaybe you are getting ready to start redecorating your little girl’s bedroom, or perhaps you are starting for the first time with her nursery, but you have no idea what style you want to go with. Not every parent wants to have a themed room that will need to be changed or updated every so often (such as Barbie, princesses, fairies, etc…) and so, for those parents I want to highlight some great themes that are classic and perfect for girls of all ages. Toile – This is a great design to use for a nursery, especially if you are not the most gifted when it comes to decorating. When you choose to go with toile as your main nursery theme, you will immediately have a space that looks like it was done by a professional. Toile is timeless and elegant with just enough sass, plus you can add in some other design styles such as floral, polka dots or stripes which will blend well and look fantastic. This is one theme for your little girl’s nursery that you will not get tired of, so it is a great choice. The added bonus is that if you stay with a gender neutral color, a toile nursery can also work for a boy, giving you versatility and a nursery set that can last for many years. I love the details of this Angelique Toile D’or Crib Linen Set by Little Bunny Blue…it is so elegant and sophisticated without being too “frilly” This is truly the perfect beginning to a great nursery design for your little girl. Damask – Typically damask is thought of as only appealing to those who have more of an alternative or eccentric style, but there are many current options which have made this pattern more universally appealing. Take, for instance, the Tess Bedding Set from Serena & Lily…they use softer, more neutral colors so that the bold pattern is not overbearing. When you choose a bedding set such as this one, you have so much versatility in adding the décor – keeping it simple or adding more ornate and eye-popping details in the lighting, and artwork. In all, I think there are many different options today which make damask a beautiful choice for a girl’s room. Paisley – Paisley is a pattern that has been around for a long time, and made its way through fashion, some classy pieces and others just too awful to remember (men’s paisley suit, for example). Even with all its ups and downs, paisley definitely has a special place in design, and when decorating for your little girl, should not be discounted. Perhaps the best part of this design pattern is how easily it melds with any other pattern, resulting in some interesting combinations: stripes, butterflies, polka dots, floral, and abstract. In the Carli Crib Bedding Set by Maddie Boo, the main fabric used is a simple paisley pattern without anything else going on, making this more modern. Also, the use of solid color blocks and stripes make this a fun and girly set that will look great in any nursery.
Adriana Dehring Making the Baby Checklist:July 10, 2009 on 10:41 am | In Decorating Tips | No CommentsYou know you have a baby on the way, it suddenly seems as if everyone you know is your best friend and has tons of advice to give – from the BEST burp cloths to which diapers NEVER leak, to what you absolutely CANNOT live without (like a wipes warmer…which you CAN live without!) Amidst all of this overwhelming (albeit sincere) advice, the parents-to-be can often hit overload pretty quickly. A good way to combat this inevitable process is to make a list of essentials in order of importance, and then revise it several times until you have eliminated all the “extra fluff” that works its way onto the paper. Something that has becoming increasingly common is to set up a wish list right away (Rosenberry Rooms has this option – see here – so as you peruse, simply add things to your wish list…very easy and very helpful). You then can give the information to family and friends so that they know what your color scheme, style, and needs really are and purchase gifts accordingly. The best part is that you can continue to add to the list, allowing you to guide gift-givers for holidays and birthdays as well! Here are a few things for baby that should definitely be on your list (I am completely skipping over all the furniture…I think those items are pretty obvious!): Baby Carrier / Sling – do not go without one! Baby slings are so stylish and hip, not to mention practical – starting with your newborn, they will give you a hands-free day allowing you to keep baby close and snug while you actually accomplish things around the house. Many also have a weight limit of 35-40 lbs giving you many years of use. Think of a baby carrier or sling as another set of hands, which every new mom and dad need when taking care of baby. I think the style and versatility of Rockin’ Baby Slings make them one of my favorite lines. Look at their Love is All Around Sling…for the stylish new mama! Keepsake Box – everyone wants to store all those little things, like the hospital bracelets, first lock of hair, etc, so be sure to put this on your wish list. You don’t want to realize a few weeks after baby is home, that you don’t have any place to put all of these “memories” and the last thing you will want to do at that point is start looking for one. Check out this Star Keepsake Box …just perfect for a little boy and its vintage flair gives it even more appeal. Picture Frame – although you will eventually need more than one frame, be sure to get one special frame for the first picture of baby. That will be something that your baby will love to have handed to them when they are older and something they can have for the rest of their lives. There are so many different frames out there to choose from, but one that stands out to me is this Bella Rose Keyhole Picture Frame because of its elegance. This can work for either a baby boy or baby girl, and will fit right into any nursery theme. Baby Bouncer – the perfect solution when mom and dad need a quick moment, a baby bouncer will keep your little one happy and truly content. Their portability is a life saver too, when you go to visit friends or family, bring it along and not only will baby stay comfy, but it will be very familiar to them in an unfamiliar place. When baby is happy, mom and dad get to relax (for a little while, at least!). This Chocolate and Turquoise Baby Bouncer by Svan is fantastic because it has reclining options, which make it suitable for naps and feeding. There are many more things that baby needs, so I will let you go and get your list together! Check out this fun category on Rosenberry Rooms that highlights some great baby gift ideas…you may come across something new and interesting that you would love to have. Meet Reesa Qualia of Renditions by ReesaJuly 8, 2009 on 12:48 am | In A Personal Look at the Designers of Rosenberry Rooms | No CommentsI am so pleased to be introducing our readers and customers to Reesa Qualia, the wonderfully talented artist that creates all of the artwork for the Renditions by Reesa children’s artwork line. A true pioneer in the children’s art Reesa has consistently built upon her line of artwork by adding great coordinating pieces such as growth charts, wall hangings, framed art and wall plaques, among others, allowing for a fantastic assortment of coordinating choices within her collections. Reesa is constantly creating and adding to the Renditions by Reesa collection, at a Susie Fougerousse How would you define the Renditions by Reesa artwork style? Classical with a touch of whimsy What inspired you to become an artist and start a business? I have always been interested in art since a young age. By the time I was in high school, I knew I would study art in college. I was painting custom art and murals at the age of 28 when I decided to start Renditions by Reesa. Why did you choose to design for children’s rooms? At the time there was not much art available to buy to decorate a child’s room- you could only find what was done by a local artist. I painted a lot of murals because people couldn’t find art to buy. I painted the same murals over and over, so I decided to come up with a way to reproduce my art on canvas and make it available to a larger group of people. I was the first in the kids business to come up with the idea to have my originals reproduced on canvas. Only posters and prints were available at the time. What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding? Getting an email from someone telling me how much they love the art and how it has completed their child’s room. Do you have any advice for other working moms? You must learn to set aside time for your family. Whatever is going on, you must forget about it and dedicate that time to your family. When you own your own business there is always something that needs to be done. It took me a few years to realize that I will never be caught up at work. You do what must be done and have certain days or hours of the day that you set aside for your family. If you had to pick a favorite piece from your collection, what would it be? The Snuggly Bunny, Snuggly Puppy and Snuggly Duck set What sets the Renditions by Reesa art apart from other children’s art? Definitely our quality sets us apart. Our designs are hand painted by a talented team of artists in Sri Lanka. Most of the other canvases available are prints on canvas. When you feel the texture and brush strokes, you know it is something unique and hand made. Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line? We are so excited about our new Imagination Squares. I am just beginning to show them this summer and they will be available in September. They are a grouping of 12”x12” canvases. The customer can mix and match their own grouping of colors and designs to create their own unique collection of art. You might hang 2 or maybe even 12 together as a set to complete your room. Now…Just for Fun Favorite Food anything Italian Favorite TV Show The New Adventures of Old Christine and Two and a Half Men I want to watch something that will relax me and make me laugh. Favorite Movie Sweet Home Alabama Favorite Weekend Activity swimming with my boys Favorite Band Maroon 5 Baby’s First Bed – Moses Baskets, Cradles and BassinetsJuly 2, 2009 on 5:12 pm | In Children's Furniture, Decorating Tips | No CommentsI wanted to highlight some of the options parents have for adorable Moses baskets, cradles, and bassinets, since these are the first things that will greet baby home from the hospital. Not everyone I know opts for these “first beds” but there are definite advantages to each of them, which I want to highlight. Moses baskets are amazing because of their portability and how they keep baby snug and comfy wherever you are. You can safely sleep baby in a Moses basket until about 15 lbs which is a decent amount of time to justify the purchase. They are one of the best transitions for baby because they feel secure and safe, and they are great for mom because they move from bedroom to living room to basement with ease. Obviously you shouldn’t do things like carry baby in the Moses basket, set it on the edge of a bed, etc…but other than those obvious safety issues, a Moses basket is a wonderful first bed and great gift option for any new parent. Look at this adorable Etoile Green Moses Basket by Hoohobbers, perfect for either baby boy or girl – you get a duvet style washable bumper, pillow sham-like sheet, basket pad and blanket. Plus, you have the option to personalize it and purchase a matching doll basket! Another option to greet baby home is a cradle, which always makes me think of life a couple of generations ago. Can’t you just picture your grandmother or great-grandmother knitting and gently rocking baby in a cradle with her foot? There is something very nostalgic for me about cradles, but that doesn’t mean they do not have a place for modern day parents. Cradles usually take a baby through to around 25 lbs, which makes them the perfect partner to a Moses basket. Again, one of the benefits is that they are still small enough to make baby feel safe and cozy, but they also are a great space saver. If you plan on having baby in your room initially, a crib often is large and takes up too much room for the temporary placement, so opting for a cradle is much more convenient for mom and dad. You don’t have to rearrange your entire room and almost as portable as a Moses basket. I love this greenEarth Sleigh Cradle by Green Frog Art – it is sleek and classy and completely Earth-friendly! Lastly, I will mention bassinets which are basically a cross between a Moses Basket and a cradle. While cradles are built like mini cribs, bassinets are usually completely closed in and many actually are built with wheels, making them very easy to move from room to room. One of my favorite bassinets is the Cortina Bassinet set which looks so plush a cozy, I am sure any baby would sleep wonderfully. Check out the Moses Baskets, Cradles, and Bassinet that Rosenberry Rooms offers. You will find traditional and modern styles and everything in the middle – guaranteeing that you will find the perfect first bed for baby. Adriana Dehring |
